"Steel City" was my debut feature film and was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. The film screened at Film Festivals around the World including Berlin, Munich, Stockholm and Chicago just to name a few. The film was acquired by Phase 4 Films, now E One Entertainment, New Films International and Showtime Cable Network. The film stars John Heard, Tom Guiry, America Ferrera, Clayne Crawford, Raymond J. Barry and Laurie Metcalf.
“She Loves Me Not,” is a three-part anthology directed by myself and Jack Sanderson. It’s a genre-blending, comedic satire about a reclusive novelist, Brady Olinson (played magically by Cary Elwes) and his attempt to find love in all the wrong places. The film also features the last on-screen performance from the iconic actress Karen Black (who starred in my one of my favorite films “Five Easy Pieces”). Joey Lauren Adams, Lisa Edelstein, Briana Evigan, Caitlin Keats and John Robinson round out the dynamic cast.
This film was a lot of fun to make and can be viewed on Amazon Prime today.
After "Steel City," with several projects in development, I was offered a chance to direct "The Coverup," about the wrongful death lawsuit of Kevin Thacker in 1984. Initially skeptical, I decided to take the assignment due to its 'David vs. Goliath' aspect. Unfortunately, the project fell short of expectations, suffered from implicit bias, and ultimately resulted in a Cable release on Lifetime Movie Network.
“The Bandit,” (formerly titled Joint Body) my third feature endeavor, is about an ex-con navigating the murky waters that go along with being a parolee and making a bad decision that puts him back on the run. It’s slick, sexy, well-acted and offers dynamic performances by Mark Pellegrino, Alicia Witt and Ryan O’Nan.
The film was shot in only 12 days and premiered at the Newport Beach International Film Festival. It was released on a number of outlets including Netflix, Amazon Prime and DVD. I plan to release it again on Amazon Prime next year.
